Zazenkai - Right Mindfulness - One-Day Retreat

Fall Practice Period 2026

Right Mindfulness

with Nanda Nina Lynch

Sunday, November 22nd, 2026

9:00 am - 5:00 pm ET (New York)

About this retreat:

This retreat will focus on the seventh part of the Eightfold Path, Right Mindfulness. Right Mindfulness refers not only to mindfulness-based meditation practices, familiar to many through both Buddhist and secular culture, but more generally to how one maintains awareness of Buddhist teachings. Traditionally, Right Mindfulness, Right Effort and Right Meditation form the third division of the Eightfold Path, focusing on mind training.

During this retreat, Nanda will guide practitioners through contemplative practices and facilitate a deeper understanding of how to cultivate awareness and how to use that awareness to improve our lives on and off the cushion.

Registration:

For this retreat, we will be offering the choice to attend for a half-day or the full day. Half-day participants can choose to attend the morning or afternoon session:

We don’t cultivate attention so much in the way of focus or concentration; instead, we liberate attention so that we can pay attention in a 360-degree kind of way… The expansion of attention liberates our wisdom, promotes flexibility, and introduces us to the compassion in the whole of our life moment after moment.

~ Koshin Paley Ellison Sensei
