Awakening Through Love - Winter Practice Period 2026
Compassion as a Liberating Power
Bringing Difficulties into Compassion
Dharma Talk by Jozen Jonathon Fielder
Saturday, February 7th
10:00 am - 12:00 pm ET (New York)
Online
The final topic and practice, while the most challenging, also lies at the very core of Buddhist Mahayana teachings - extending compassion to those who we find most challenging or difficult. Once we have established the field of care that includes self-compassion and compassion for others, we take the next logical step and begin to include in our compassion practice any and all in need of kindness. The real work continues as we begin to examine those individuals with whom we find little to like or agree with. Yes, all beings are worthy of compassion and kindness. There is much work to be done.
Hatred is never dispelled by hatred in this world. It is only dispelled by love.
That is the eternal law.
- Shakyamuni Buddha
The Winter Practice Period is open to anyone.
