Emotional Koan Basics

with Ekai Joel Kreisberg

August 3rd

7:30 pm - 8:30 pm ET (New York)

Online

Emotional Koans are the unique teachings of Jun Po Denis Kelly Roshi. In contrast to sitting silently in zazen, emotional koans are practiced in daily life, when you get triggered emotionally. Sound fun? Not really. However, if you have ever found yourself reacting in ways you don’t feel good about, emotional koans offer a method for learning to respond skillfully, with compassion. Sound interesting? Come find out more!

Designed for both beginners and experienced practitioners curious about this unique emotional koan path, this class introduces the principles and experiential methods of Mondo Zen Facilitation in an accessible and interactive format.

Participants will explore the inquiry process, learn core concepts and terminology, and discover how this work to support emotional maturity, spiritual insight, embodied presence, and compassionate action in daily life.

This session also serves as an orientation for those interested in working with a facilitator, joining a practice group, or pursuing future training as a facilitator or teacher. Offered four times a year, this program is part of the Cosmopolitan Zen Basics program that introduces newcomers to a variety of practice commonly used in our programs.

Cosmopolitan Zen Basics is open to anyone.

There is no fee for this event.‍ ‍A donation is requested.‍ ‍
