Shuso Ceremony
featuring Zen Ko Ryan Harriott
Saturday, June 13th
10:00 am - 11:00 am ET (New York)
Online
In a traditional Zen monastery, the head student served the role of mentor and guide to the new students. The Shuso Ceremony honors his or her leadership by providing an opportunity to offer a teaching to the sangha.
The ceremony begins with offering incense and the chanting of the Heart Sutra. Zen Ko will then offer a teaching to the sangha. After receiving the Kotsu, Zen Ko will respond to questions asked of him directly from the sangha. After closing blessings, we will have a community check-in and a 30-minute zazen practice together.
The Shuso Ceremony is open to anyone.
There is no fee for this event.
