“In traditional Asian Buddhist cultures, the identity of a person is formed within a web of many relationships: with one’s family, familial and spiritual ancestors, the larger community, and with the natural landscape and environment. Within this web of relational support, a meditator’s orientation to contemplative practice is supported by the communities in which the person is embedded. ”
